Thou madest known unto me the ways of life; Thou shalt make me full of gladness with thy countenance. Act 2:28
Today as I stood at the kitchen sink and mixed a combination of spices for grilling, I thought to myself “if I wasn’t well, I could not do this”. A feeling of gratitude came over me and I found myself weeping and giving thanks to my great God. He healed my body…. because that’s just what He does.
For those who do not know my story, (it’s really His story) this time last year I could not even consider spending more than five or ten minutes at a time at the kitchen doing a task of any sort. I never thought I’d be able to take on any task that took much of an effort because of my declining health. I had an autoimmune disorder. My immune system had turned against itself and was destroying my body; its goal was death. This was a time in my life I begged God to let me go to sleep and to take me. If my life was to be as limited and painful as it was, then I would rather wake up on the streets of glory. Any vision that I had once had of working in the ministry quickly diminished. I couldn’t see glimmer of hope…. I felt God had abandoned me.
Life is like that. We have trials, tribulations, life happens to us all. The most important thing is never to give up. Never give up on your God-given vision, desires, or goals. That’s exactly what the enemy wants. If you give up, he wins.
God says that the work he started in us he’s going to finish.
being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:6
That my friend, is a promise from God. If you haven’t heard, God cannot lie.
God is not a man, that he should lie, Neither the son of man, that he should repent: Hath he said, and will he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and will he not make it good? Numbers 23:19
Every good and perfect gift comes from God.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, neither shadow that is cast by turning. James 1:17
He blesses us because we are his offspring and he loves us.
for in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain even of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Act 17:28
Trial, tribulation, war, famine, nothing can separate us from his love.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Rom 8:35
As I blended chili powder, brown sugar, salt and other various spices, I looked at each seasoning as a factor ingredient that made today’s outcome possible.
Today I am overwhelmed with gratitude that I can only describe as unspeakable joy. It took every trial, error, sickness, health, friendship (or loss of) from my past to birth/bring forth this feeling of gratitude. If I had not experienced all that I have, my gratitude today may not be as great.
The Bible tells us to taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh taste and see that Jehovah is good: Blessed is the man that taketh refuge in him. Psalm 34:8
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life…..
Surely goodness and lovingkindness shall follow me all the days of my life; And I shall dwell in the house of Jehovah for ever. Psalm 23:6
That is exactly what has happened.
His goodness and mercy has followed me AND He has kept me.
Seasoned with His goodness into my life brings forth gladness…. HIS Gladness in me.
