Strategically Planning to Succeed

It seemed that it always caught me off guard. I would be home alone watching a movie, playing a game, just piddling around. No matter how much I resisted, I always seemed to fall. After the 999999999 time of getting back up, I decided to do something different.  (Obviously, what I was doing was not working, so I needed to do something I’d not done before.)

I decided to devise a plan, and it worked! Each time I saw/recognised a trigger/weak point… I would plan a strategy to avoid a fall. As I grew stronger, the temptations became weaker and weaker. One day I realised… I was no longer tempted.

Planning

Here is what I did.

Identified where I was are at, who I was with (or not), listening to (and not listening to), looking at, and how I felt right before temptation arose.

(Some common triggers (were for me) and may be for others, boredom, loneliness, stress, fatigue)

Pray and ask God to help you identify your triggers and to show you what you can do to/behaviors you change to avoid them. Ponder them then and set up a plan to succeed.

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41
